Factorynebula

Data Collection

number-1

Connect to industrial machines

The FactoryNebula Gateway connects to various industrial machines, including PLCs, CNCs, robots, and sensors. Using physical interfaces (Ethernet, serial ports, fieldbus modules) and flexible software, it enables communication with virtually any device on the factory floor.

One gateway becomes the central bridge between operations and IT systems.

number-2

Support for industrial protocols

The gateway speaks all major “machine languages”, including:

✔ PLC protocols: Modbus TCP/RTU, Siemens S7, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA

✔ CNC protocols: Fanuc FOCAS, Heidenhain DNC, MTConnect

This allows for seamless data unification, regardless of machine brand, type, or age.

number-3

Extract and structure machine data

The gateway collects raw machine data such as cycle times, statuses, fault codes, temperatures, and sensor values. It structures and normalizes this information into a clean and standardized format, ready for use in dashboards, ERP systems, or analytics platforms.

This allows for seamless data unification, regardless of machine brand, type, or age.

number-4

Local processing with fog computing

The gateway processes data locally, no cloud connection needed. This is called fog computing.

Built-in tools include:

Kafka / MQTT: for real-time data streaming
SQL databases: to store time-series or structured logs
Web apps: built in Vue or Angular, running on-device
Custom scripting: with Node.js or Python
Cybersecurity tools: firewalls, intrusion detection (e.g., Suricata)

Local intelligence ensures fast, reliable operation, even offline.

number-5

Dashboards and visualization

Real-time dashboards show what is happening in your factory, including live graphs, machine states, alarms, energy usage, production metrics, and more.

Powered by tools like Grafana or built-in HTML5 interfaces running directly on the gateway.

number-6

Visual logic with Node-RED

The FactoryNebula Gateway includes Node-RED, a user-friendly tool to build automation rules using drag-and-drop blocks, no coding needed.

Why use it?

  • Lets technicians and engineers create smart workflows without IT support
  • Speeds up testing and improvement of logic on the shop floor

  • Connects easily to machines, dashboards, databases, and cloud services

Node-RED lowers the barrier to building smart, connected automation.

number-7

Data buffering and local storage

In case of network outages or unstable cloud connections, the gateway stores data locally. Buffered logs are automatically synchronized when connections are restored, so nothing is lost.

number-8

Integration with cloud and ERP systems

The gateway connects to:

  • Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud

  • ERP systems: SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Odoo

  • MES and BI tools: Power BI, Tableau, Grafana

It communicates via MQTT, REST APIs, OPC UA and more.

number-9

Security and access control

Security is built in:

  • Encrypted VPN connections

  • Role-based access and audit logging

  • Firewalls and IP whitelisting

  • Intrusion Detection Systems (e.g., Suricata, Snort)

A secure foundation for industrial data collection.

number-10

Scalable and future-proof

The FactoryNebula Gateway is modular and extensible:

  • Add new protocols, services, or AI modules via updates or Docker containers

  • Connect multiple machines through one device

  • Scale from a pilot project to full factory coverage

Designed for Industry 4.0, today and tomorrow.
